Letter
We are a group of 10 university students and young adults currently living in Aix-en-Provence, France. In April we will travel to Uganda and spend two weeks working with Juna Amagara Ministries, who provide education, housing, and support to children who have lost their parents to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Juna Amagara operates a children’s home for almost 30 children and supports the education of many other children in the surrounding areas.
Our major project will be to continue construction on the Learning Advancement Center. This center will eventually have many uses including housing, meeting rooms, a school for young women, and a computer lab. The goal of Rev. Ben Tumuheirwe, the founder of the children’s home, is to bring higher education to students in Uganda that otherwise would not have this opportunity. He also hopes to coordinate field trips with government schools so that children from
other regions of the country can be exposed to computers.
When not working on the learning center, our time will be spent with the children. We will be helping to tutor, play sports, sing, and eat meals with the children each day.
We are writing you so that you can share in the excitement with us. We would love for you to partner with us in prayer and, if possible, financially. Though we are making sure that the costs for this trip stay as low as possible, there is still a significant financial cost to this trip. The funds we raise will go directly to the children’s home, paying for building materials, lodging, food, and books for the new library.
We are working hard to raise some of the needed money in France, but this is much more difficult than it sounds. We are trying many different avenues to raise money both here in France and back home in the States and England. As the total cost for the trip per person is $2,000, every little bit helps.
Would you be willing to support us on this trip through a financial gift?
